The Queen Elizabeth ll Diamond Jubilee Medal is awarded on the recommendation of various Canadian non profit and charitable organizations to recognize exemplary service to your community and country. A new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth ll Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. I was one of 32 recipients awarded this medal February 26, 2013 for my work fundraising and raising awareness for Right To Play in my community and across the country. I have raised over $4000.00 to date and am continuing to fund raise. The list of recipients all contributed to the Right To Play's mandate of giving every child, here in Canada, and around the world, the right to play, whatever their circumstances. Many Olympians, sports broadcasters, wealthy philanthropists and school teachers were awarded this medal on February 26, 2013. I was the youngest recipient and I enjoyed the occasion and meeting the many like-minded adults, immensely!
